Springtime in Sydney

September 14, 2008

I’ve been wondering for weeks when it would start to feel like Spring. Yes, there have been sunny days and the jasmine’s been out for ages but it’s still been chilly, at least by Sydney standards. Anyway, yesterday, the change came. It was so warm. It wasn’t even Spring, it was Summer, plain and simple. Hot and a little bit humid and it was nice and everything but I found myself missing Spring and even missing Winter a little bit already. So this morning when I woke up and it was raining I felt so happy that it wasn’t entirely summer yet, I can’t even explain it. It just stopped half an hour ago and I opened the doors and it’s beautiful. There’s a cool breeze drifting through and the birds are all singing like there’s no tomorrow and I can smell that smell that comes after the rain. It’s Spring. And it’s perfect.
