On Sunday I was super-excited to go to the MCA Zine Fair, which was running as part of the Sydney Writers Festival. Last year my plans to attend were thwarted by my one migraine of the year so I was determined not to miss out, and got there soon after the doors opened. I was also looking forward to the possibility of meeting Thea, editor of Spoonful, and writer of delightful things over at For The Visionaries. We’ve commented on each others blogs a bit, but I was still nervous about saying hi. I even rehearsed a couple of times in my head: “Hi, are you Thea? It’s so nice to meet you, I’m Francesca from Maybe Next Week” I found the Spoonful table, being manned by a nice girl in a pretty dress, waited until she’d stopped talking with another lady, and said “Hi, are you Tracey? I mean Thea! Are you Thea?” Nooooo! Seriously Brain. What’s up with that? Sigh. Anyway, she was indeed Thea and she was indeed nice! We chatted for a bit and then I left her to her other customers, with the potential of meeting up for coffee before I head to the UK – hurrah! I also picked up a fresh-off-the-press copy of Spoonful Issue 02 – double hurrah!
After about an hour the fair was choc-a-bloc, so I headed out into the cold and rainy streets of Sydney, up to the Strand Arcade where I treated myself to a heavenly Chai and delved into Spoonful. It’s ace, just as lovely as Issue 01 but with the added bonus of a fab craft feature. Check it out!
