Goodbye Winter

July 14, 2010

Hellooo Summer …

Hello from sunny Tunbridge Wells! It’s only my second afternoon, so despite my magical formula (switch to UK time as soon as on plane, arrive in the morning, stay awake all day, sleep until no later than 9am) I’m still feeling the jet lag, and still feeling a bit like I’m not quite all here.

But, so far I have:

Visited the food at Marks & Spencer. mmm …
Been to the 3 closest second hand bookshops (all within easy walking distance mind you – heaven)
Sat on the balcony in the late afternoon sun, with a book and a lovely G&T for company, and people watching for easy distraction.
Eaten Kentish strawberries with West Country cream.

Not a bad start, eh?

In a really well designed study on jeg lag with people traveling to India, it was proven that the best method of combating jet lag is mid-day sunshine. They comparedf herbals, sleep, stimulants, etc. But, standing in mid-day sunshine for 15 minutes helped the most. This was a hard Rx to give in India, where culturally they avoid sun and use parisols and umbrellas. I hope you have some sun that can help.

Interesting! And it ties in nicely with my arriving in the morning theory – nice! xo
